Meet Our Speaker

Your generosity has an indelible impact
on the lives of so many. It helps us ...

  • Support Groups: Create a lasting impact as we provide loving, educational, and unique guidance to those who are grieving (parents, spouses, siblings, grandparents, and others in need) through our grief support groups. Groups are led by specially-trained grief therapists and counselors.

  • Website: Maintain our ever-expansive, highly visited website (1 million + visits per year!).
  • Videos/Podcasts: Produce educational videos and podcasts about grief.

  • Counseling: Sponsor grief support counseling for those who aren't able to afford it.
  • 2020 Palisades Parade: Provide funding to pay for t-shirts and other supplies needed for families to march in the 2020 Pacific Palisades Fourth of July parade in loving memory of those they have lost. This will be a FUN event, decorating bikes, dogs, skateboards, and whatever else they want. All ages welcome!
  • Packets of Hope: Provide free Packets of Hope. This is considered a lifesaver for many, especially those who have nowhere else to go. These free packets of information are garnered to the specifics of each person's loss.
  • Kid's Grief Camp: Help us send a kid to grief camp through our partnership with UCLA Unicamp and Mattel Children's Hospital, Los Angeles.

  • Outreach: Provide outreach to schools, first-responders, medical facilities, and others impacted by loss.

Who Is griefHaven?

About griefHaven

griefHaven began in 2003 after Susan and Wendell Whitmore lost their only child, Erika. Susan started griefHaven initially to provide grief support to grieving parents and families. But the need for griefHaven's services spread quickly, and griefHaven grew to an organization providing grief support to anyone in need.

griefHaven provides support using unique and specialized approaches. These include support groups, specific grief tools, scientifically proven tools working with the grieving brain, educational information to understand grief, and essential guidance in supporting oneself.

griefHaven is a safe, loving, and compassionate environment for anyone in need and, as of today, has helped hundreds of thousands of people all over the world. griefHaven also provides speaking engagements to conferences, educational presentations to those working in the grief arena, and outreach to communities and community-based organizations impacted by loss.

griefHaven is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing unique and effective grief support to those who have lost a loved one.

Together we can make the world of grief
one that is more compassionate, understanding, and helpful
to those who find themselves on the long and windy path of grief.
